#34: 6 Ways To Drive Change & Help Women Succeed At Work

Mar 6, 2025

134 years. That’s how long it will take to reach gender parity.

So what’s holding women back at work? And more importantly — what can we do about it? That’s exactly what we’re diving into today.

I grew up in the ’80s — the decade of big hair, power suits and Working Girl. A time when women were independent and ambitious. To me, women had ALWAYS been successful at work — and anything I wanted to achieve in my career was possible.

Yet when I entered the workforce (big hair still in tow!), I found workplaces built on traditional systems where men held the power. The corporate environments I worked in encouraged healthy competition and rewarded high performance. As I watched the women around me adapt to these systems, I did the same.

From my 20’s, the message was clear: To succeed as a woman, I had to be confident, competitive — even aggressive.

Fast forward two decades and workplaces have evolved. We’ve seen a shift towards equal pay, diversity initiatives and more women in leadership. After 17 years supporting people in their careers, I’m in awe of how far we’ve come.

But progress isn’t happening fast enough. And while International Women’s Day builds awareness of these issues, I want to extend the conversation beyond one day a year.

Because I know real action begins with YOU taking ownership of your career.

In this episode I’m breaking down the biggest barriers women still face at work and how to move past them. Whether you’re navigating these challenges yourself or leading a team, you’ll walk away with practical steps to create real change!

You’ll learn:

  • Why flexible work can limit visibility and career progression — and what to do about it
  • The ONE thing you can control when balancing motherhood and your career
  • How to position yourself so hiring managers see your potential — not their assumptions
  • The REAL reason women are still paid and promoted less — and ways to change this
  • How to reclaim your voice at the table and be heard with clarity and confidence
  • Actionable strategies to create collaboration over competition — and help leaders support women at work

So hit play — and let’s dive in!
